I recently returned to work after the birth of Miles. I’ve only been working half-days, but I’m still making face-time in the office. Everyone knows I had a baby, so I’ve had to field the usual questions: How’s the baby? How’s Sarah? Did everything go OK?

That last question has been a stumbling point for me. Technically speaking, everything did go OK. The c-section went well, and there were no complications during the surgery. We just got a different baby than the one we were expecting.

I’ve been struggling with whether or not talk about Down Syndrome right away with my co-workers. I’ve discussed it with the few co-workers that I work closest with, but beyond that, I’ve been silent on the issue. At some point, I’ll be bringing Miles into the office, and I’ll probably become more forthcoming with our situation.
